Well the photo's I've seen are pretty nice fish. The strippers up here get pretty big, about 30" to 45".  The keeper size is 36".Smile

It depend's on what yo want to catch. If you want a good size fish. You would need bait. Sometime's you can get them on lure's. It depends on what they are going for. If there going for the bait, then use the bait. If there not going for the bait, then go with the lure's. If there not going for lures, then go to bait. It also depend's on the weather.

I have had some decent catches with live sand eels.  Do you fish for weakfish, Griz?

I can't say the same except when I surf cast for them. Usually drifting in the Bay off of sand bars I hit some reall decent fighters. I use Diamond jig and sand worms when drifting.

Further East towards Montauk, Shinecock canal or the Peconic bay, or Montauk itself.

Just did a river fishing week and nailed a ton of fish. My whole family came out and we ended up with 80+ fish in a week. Just pink salmon but hey, they smoke up well and we wont have to buy fish for a while.

I have never seen the river so full of fish

My brother in law and his best friend won their second bass tournament in a row on Saturday.

Here were a few of their fish.

He caught a 4.5 pound small mouth too. And missed big bass by .004

I want pics of the 4.5lb smallie, IMHO they're superior to largemouth in every way but maximum size. If I get one 2.5 to 3 lbs I'm have a good day.

I'm going to do some steelhead fishing starting pretty soon once they move into the rivers for the winter.
